Join Stimola Literary Studio Agent, Erica Rand Silverman, and book makers, Aram Kim, Matthew Burgess, Lala Watkins and Juliana Perdomo as they discuss their paths to publishing, time management, agent/client relationships and more!

Aram Kim is a New York-based children’s book author/illustrator and book designer. She was born in Ohio, spent her childhood in South Korea, and now lives in Queens, New York. This spring she is publishing the third picture book in her Yoomi Friends and Family series, SUNDAY FUNDAY IN KOREATOWN (Holiday House). Aram likes bringing in distinctive South Korean flair to works she creates. Her books have been honored as Junior Library Guild selections, Bank Street Best Books of the Year, ILA/CBC picks, and more!

Matthew Burgess is a highly acclaimed author, poet and Assistant Professor at Brooklyn College. His picture books have been selected as Best Books of the Year by The Washington Post, Boston Globe, Kirkus, Brain Pickings among others. He has two picture books publishing this summer, BIRD BOY (Knopf) and MAKE MEATBALLS SING: The Life and Art of Sister Corita Kent (Enchanted Lion Books). A poet-in-residence in New York City public schools since 2001, Matthew also serves as a contributing editor of Teachers & Writers Magazine.

Lala Watkins is an illustrator extraordinaire whose work is like a summer pool party and everyone’s invited! Lala is new to children’s book publishing and just closed her first book deal still unannounced. She graduated with a BFA in Graphic Design and Interactive Communication from Ringling College Of Art & Design. She’s in a long term relationship with the sun so she lives in sunny Florida.

Juliana Perdomo is a writer and illustrator born in Bogotá, Colombia, surrounded by nature, bright colors, music, weird fruits, sunshine, animals, friends and a huge and loving family. She currently lives there with her wonderful son, Luca. Having a background as a psychologist and art therapist, Juli discovered the positive effects that art and narrative had on the kids she worked with. She then found her passion in children’s literature and her board books been recognized by Parents Magazine as best books of the year. Her illustrator debut, EL CUCUY IS SCARED TOO!, will publish this spring with Abrams. Her authorial debut will publish with Candlewick in 2022.
