Reading of “MY NAME IS MOUNTAIN” and Nature-Inspired Yoga Poses (ages 3-8)
March 30, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 2:30 pm EDT

Have you ever taken a walk through an old-growth forest, where the trees seem to stretch endlessly toward the sky and time fades away? Join Britt Crow-Miller as she reads My Name is Mountain, on submission as her debut picture book. The meditative text will transport you to a magical place, taking you on a deep and whimsical exploration of an old growth forest ecosystem, provoking curiosity and a childlike sense of wonder about the magic of nature all around us. The reading will be followed by a series of yoga poses inspired by nature and intended to ground and calm all of us together, apart.
Britt Crow-Miller is the Founding Director of CityWild in Portland, OR, an environmental education nonprofit with the mission of inspiring curiosity about nature through fun, exploration, and hands-on learning for kids and families, including those in underserved communities. She is also a professor at the School for the Future of Innovation in Society and Senior Sustainability Scientist at the Julie Ann Wrigley Global Institute for Sustainability, both at Arizona State University. She holds a Ph.D. in Environmental Geography from UCLA, an M.A. from Harvard University and a B.A. from Bard College in New York's beautiful Hudson Valley. When Britt isn't teaching or writing, she can be found wrangling her three young kids (and their puppy!) with a hot green tea or cold beer in hand, hopefully outdoors.
